Vada pav is a Vegetarian fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra. The dish consists of a deep-fried potato dumpling placed inside a bread bun sliced almost in half through the middle.
Ingredients
For stuffing
• 4 big size potatoes
• 20-25 mint leaves
• 1 tbsp coriander seeds (Dhana)
• Corriander
• 3-4 green chillies
• 1-inch ginger
• Salt to taste
• Oil for deep frying Vada
For coating :
• 1 cup besan flour
• Pinch of baking soda
• 1 tsp red chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp turmeric
• Salt to taste
• Water
Recipe
• Boil the potatoes then peel them and cut them in small squares.
• In a mixer grinder, take coriander seeds (Dhana), mint leaves, green chillies, salt, ginger, a little bit of water and then grind it into a smooth paste.
• In a kadhai, take 2 tbsp oil, then add the paste made earlier and saute it for 3-4 mins
• Add a pinch of turmeric and then add boiled potatoes and give a stir so that masala distributes evenly. Let it cook for 8-10 mins.
• In a bowl take besan, chilli powder, turmeric, baking soda and water and make a smooth paste to coat the vada.
• Once the stuffing cools down, form the shape of vada and dip it in coating and deep fry it till it becomes golden brown.
• Serve the Vada with Pav and garlic chutney!
Note:-
The above-mentioned ingredients serve 4 people. This Recipe is not according to a traditional dish.
This is something we call "Vada Pav Thoda Hatke".
