Malvani Mutton Curry

Here is a complete recipe for Malvani Mutton Curry 


  • 1 kg. Mutton
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1½ cups fresh coconut, grated
  • 1½ tbsp. Ginger and garlic paste, each
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. Malvani masala
  • 2 tbsp. Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. Turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 5 tbsp. Oil

For Malvani Masala, roast the following spices, cool down to room temperature, and then grind in a mixer/grinder.

  • 15 red chilies
  • 2 tbsp. Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp. Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp. Caraway seeds
  • ½ tsp. Mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp. Aniseeds
  • 1” Cinnamon
  • 1 Star anise
  • 5 Cloves
  • 5 Triphala
  • 2 Black cardamom
  • 10 Peppercorns
  • 1 tsp. Stone flower
  • 10 cassia buds
  • ½ tsp. Nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. Asafetida
  • 1 tsp. Turmeric
  • 1 mace
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp. Oil


  •  Roast the coconut and the onions until they change color and then grind to a fine paste.
  •  Heat oil and fry the onions until golden brown. Then add ginger and garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell goes off.
  • Add chili powder, turmeric powder, Malvani masala powder, and mix well. Add mutton and fry it for 5-7 minutes and then add the ground onion and coconut paste and mix well.
  • Add a liter of water and salt and pressure cook the mutton for 4-5. whistles and serve.

Malvani Mutton Curry is ready to eat!
